IP Address
#Summary - In today's blog we will discuss about what is IP Address and why we need it.
#IP Address -
*In the network a device needs an IP (Internet Protocol) address to communicate with the other devices.
*IP Address is a unique 32-bit logical address assigned to each device which is connected to a network.
*An IP Address is used to communicate with various networking devices and operates at Network Layer.
*IP Address is similar to a telephone number which is unique.
*IP Address is a unique number assigned to any device operating on Network Example - Computer, Router, printer, Internet fax and machines.
*An IP Address is used to identify the devices in a network.
*IP Address is a logical address that is changeable.
*IP Address Format -
^Binary Format - 11000000.10101000.00101010.00000001
^Dotted Decimal - 192.168.42.1 (Generally we denote in dotted decimal)
In IP Address each of the 8 bits combination is called Octet.
The range of decimal numbers in each octet varies is from 0 to 255.
*If we have two NICs in our Computer so we can assign two ip addresses for both NIC to communicate to the same or two different networks.
