Types of Wireless Network
#Summary - in today's blog we will learn about types of wireless network Ad-Hoc (Peer-to-Peer) and infrastructure Wireless LAN (LAN).
#Ad-Hoc (Peer-to-Peer) Network -
*In Peer-to-Peer multiple computer's are directly connected with each other using wireless NIC
*This types network allows wireless devices to directly communicate with each other without involving a central Access point.
*Wireless devices which are within each other's range can communicate with each other.
*In this network devices can access printers and files but cant access wired LAN resources.
In the diagram pc1 is directly connected to pc2 without involving a central access point using wireless NIC.
*This types networks use the Mesh topology and useful for creating small network like meeting hall, small work group or friend's group.
Note - We can have maximum 9 wireless clients in an Ad Hoc Wireless network.
#Infrastructure Wireless LAN or Access Point Network -
*In this types network we need a central access point.
*In this types network the wireless devices connected with each other through the access point.
*Access point act as a Hub or Switch to connect two wireless computers.
*It is widely used Wireless LAN.
*This types network uses Star Topology and we can easily extend adding a Access Point.
In the above figure pc1 is connected to pc2 through the access point so if pc1 want to signals to pc2 so first signal goes to access point and then access point send it to pc2.
