OSI Model - Network Layer
Summary - Today we will discuss about network layer working of OSI Model.
# Network Layer - This is the third layer of the OSI Model. In this layer data unit known as Packet. When two different network's two devices connected when network layer is essential for providing source to destination delivery of packets.
Network Layer receive data from transport layers and attach header to the data and passes data to the data link layer.
At the receiver end, Network layer receive data from data link layer and it detaches header from the data and send to the transport layer.
* Responsibilities of Network Layer -
a) IP Addressing - When the Packet is destined for a device outside the network, we require other addressing scheme to identify source and destination. Network layer adds header to the data that includes the IP Address Configuration of the Source and destination. IP Address is a 32 bit logical address that uniquely identifies the devices in the network.
b) Routing - Routing is a process wherein a proper path is defined for the packets to reach the destination.
c) Internetworking - When two or more Computer networks connected with each other that types connection known as Internetworking. Network Layer is responsible for Internetworking.
Thanks.....
In next blog we will discuss Transport Layer of the OSI Model.
