Loopback Testingwith Hyper Terminal
#Hardware Requirements :-
*PC - 8/10 in working condition
#Hands on Exercise -
1. Select Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Hyper Terminal.
The connection Description dialog box appears as shown in figure

2. Enter appropriate name, in the name box.
3. Select the appropriate icon, from the icon group.
4. Click OK. The connect to dialog box appears as show in figure -
5. Select the appropriate COM port, from the connect using drop down list.
6. Click OK. The COM port Properties dialog box appears as show in figure
7.Select the none option, from the Flow control drop down list.
8. Click Ok. The Loop back test Hyper Terminal Window appears as shown in figure -
9. Enter the text
10. If the serial port is working and the loopback plug is properly connected, the text you type appears in the window. If you do not have a loopback plug then you can prepare a shunt and connect to pin no. 2 and 3 on the serial port of the same.
Note - If you remove the plug and type text, it should not appear in the wind.
11. If the loopback test is successful, it indicates that your serial port is functional and you can send and receive data through that port.
