#Objective - To Troubleshoot TCP/IP automatically by using Network Diagnostics

#Hardware Requirements -
  • Multiple PCs in a workgroup 

#Hands on Exercise - The TCP/IP troubleshooting can also be done automatically using the Network Diagnostics tool which is provided by windows XP which can be used to identify the source of a problem.

To troubleshoot TCP/IP using Network Diagnostics -

1. Select Start>Help and Support. The Help and Support Centre Window appears as shown in figure -



2. Click Use Tools to view your computer information and diagnose problems. The Tools screen appears as shown in figure -



3. From the left pane, click Network Diagnostics. The Network Diagnostics screen appears as shown in figure -


4. Click Scan your System. ( All the configuration information is gathered and network connectivity problems are automatically troubleshooted.

5. If any item is marked failed in red, expand and view that category for any extra information. (Alternatively, you can start network diagnostic tool by typing Netsh Diag Gui at the Command Prompt).
